POWERLINE JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Powerline Technologies Ltd is an innovative small company operating in the rapidly expanding Smart Grid marketplace.  Against significant competition, the company has recently been awarded a grant from Innovate UK. Leading a consortium of universities and SMEs the company will develop a game changing product which will revolutionise the low voltage electricity network.

The project has created a requirement for two engineering positions.  Both positions provide the opportunity to work at the leading edge of smartgrid development and will be based in Bristol.

The two positions are as follows:

Senior Hardware Design Engineer. This position is open to a digital design engineer with experience of embedded circuit design, and the ability to design advanced PCB designs using industry standard design tools.  Knowledge of analogue front ends for data conversion circuitry is also required.

Knowledge of FPGA design and some appreciation of electric power systems would also be an advantage.  The successful candidate will have a first degree in electronic engineering or similar subject, and preferably a higher degree.

Senior Software Engineer.  This position is open to candidates with experience of designing embedded software systems using the C programming language and the Linux operating system.  You will have used industry standard IDEs and debugging systems, and other associated tools.  Knowledge of mathematics programming and the MATLAB language will also be an advantage.  The successful candidate will have a degree in electronics, computer science or similar technical subject and ideally a higher degree in an associated area.
